Great beauty myth debuster! I have to admit that I agree with pretty much all of your points (although I have to say, it never occured to me to cover my red ears with foundation!)
To a point, make up is such a ‘to each their own’ thing. But in saying that, the impression I get from watching your vids is that make up should be used to enhance what you already have and work with and not against your natural features (which I thoroughly approve of!)

I love your analogy between the beautiful princess and the wicked queen eyebrows. I love the Chanel Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear runway look. I think it is the perfect example of thicker eyebrows can you show how to recreate this look.

Just been dug-up (ha ha) love it!

I love all of your beauty advice it is honest, practical, and true. A lot of makeup artists on youtube are a little bit over the top and tend to forget about regular women. Oftentimes things that look good on the runway do not translate to the street unless you’re a streetwalker or a drag queen.

You have such a good point about adapting the shadow tecnique to the eye shape! I had been trying to copy others who had more lid while I have very little. Im SO thankful for finding you!

i’ve been watching your videos for 3 days straight. i love doing eye make up but after i discovered what really looks best on my eye shape – they are small and i don’t have that much “lid space”, like you! – i’ve pretty much stuck to one look: a winged gel eyeliner on the upper lid, starting from the middle of the eye, extending out. i find that it opens up my eyes quite a bit, but i want to use all the coloured eyeshadows i have and experiment with a smokey eye. thanks to you i now know how!

January 20th, 2010 at 2:28 am
I totally agree with you.Especially the concealer part…i always see people with white circles around their eyes…that looks horrible…-.-
January 20th, 2010 at 2:32 am
pls keep doing what you do. really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos!

hallelujah someone talked about thin eyebrows. my aunt shaves her eyebrows completely then draws a line in. let me say there’s nothing quite as bad as that

OMG! You are so right about the nude lip and Bobbi Brown being a fan of too light concealer. I’ve learned to ask for “natural” lipstick so I don’t get shown some beige lipstick that makes me look like a corpse. As for concealer, I’ve had pretty good results from BB makeovers except I have to come home and wipe a half pound of concealer from under each eye. Not only too light but also too much! Too much concealer is a pet peeve of mine.

Maybe I’m showing my age, but I really don’t get the nude/pasty lip thing. I thought the original objective of lipstick was to add color to the lips, in imitation of what some people call “over-pigmented” lips. You might not have to add much color to lips if you don’t want to, but it looks weird on pretty much everyone when you take it away.

I hope you realize just how wonderful you are to be sharing all this info with us. You really don’t have to do this but u do it out of the kindness of your own heart and I for one have learned so much from you and I thank you so much. I agree with everything you say esp. the thin eye brows and the self tanner.
