What are Pimple Causes, Cures, Treatments and Prevention?

Pimples not only affect teenagers, but adults as well. People of all races and ages get acne. Almost all children will experience the occasional outbreak of spots or pimples as they move through puberty. Pimples, acne and blackheads are common problems faced by almost everyone. Pimples are formed when the pores on the skin becomes clogged or infected and swellings (pustules) filled with pus. There are a number of factors that contribute to the cause of pimples. The most common cause of pimples is hormonal imbalance. When the hormone levels change, the body produces more sebum, making the skin greasy. The excess sebum blocks the pores resulting in pimples. Fried or oily foods and saturated fat foods can also affect acne prone skin and pimples. When the problem is severe pimples can appear on the neck, face, back, shoulders, chest and arms. Scalp pimples are also common which affect people of all ages.

Skin hygiene is very important in preventing and Treating Pimples. Wash your face with soap and water at least three to four times a day to remove excess oil. Use medicated soap and gels with lukewarm water and use a clean soft towel to pat your face dry. Avoid harsh scrubbing, as this will irritate the skin and there are chances that you might pop the pimples releasing the fluids, which may cause fresh breakouts.

You want to avoid squeezing, picking or popping your pimples. That’s the worst thing one can do to pimples because it can cause scarring and worsen the blemish. As a pimple delevops, the amount of white blood cells gradually increases. White blood cells prevent the infection from penetrating the lower skin layers. If you don’t touch a pimple then, after a period of time, white blood cells will kill the living bacteria and the pimple will disappear.

Getting rid of pimples has been the goal of Acne Treatment. There are many treatments methods which range from covering up your symptoms using creams to attacking the root of your pimples. Treatment of pimples may require a combination of medicines. The two most common ways to treat pimples is by oral or topical applications. There are also many home remedies for pimples which vary in effectiveness. There are various creams, lotions and gels that can be bought over the counter for pimples. There are many good skin products in the market to reduce & prevent pimples & acne. Consult a dermatologist if your pimples are persistent or if they produce a lot of discomfort so that an appropriate medicine can be prescribed.

Effective Pimple Treatments And Home Remedies

Pimples for the most part are really nothing but mild forms of acne. They appear in two forms: blackheads and whiteheads. It becomes difficult to cure pimples when they develop into cysts that contain pus. Some of the most prevalent pimple treatments are listed down here in the order of their usage by those who suffer from pimples.

Instant Remedies – Undoubtedly the first forms of treatment that pimple sufferers would prefer are easily available instant remedies such as creams, gels, herbal face packs etc. Most of these remedies which are commercially sold contain azelaic acid and hyaluronic acid. These two acids aid the generation of natural collagen in the skin and cause tightening of the skin. It is not necessary for one to have a dermatologist’s prescription in order to buy these products. They can be found in all medical stores. Various brands produce a number of pimple treatments and products based on the severity of the pimples. It is however advised that one does not resort to over usage because it would cause some adverse effects.

Home-made remedies – The next thing an individual would do when commercial products fail to cure pimples is undertaking home based pimple treatments. Good dietary practices such as not consuming fried foods and taking in more vegetables and fresh fruits are part of home remedies. Vitamin A,B,C tablets and zinc also do come under home based pimple treatments. Home remedies are very easy to follow and they are more effective when combined with other chemical treatments.

Oral and prescription drugs – These treatments are supposed to be used only when over the counter products fail to cure the pimple trouble and it is essential to get a dermatologist’s prescription before starting to use them. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are two of the most widely used topical applications.  Some of the oral medications include retin-A, isotretinonin, tetracycline and birth control pills. In real, a combination of drugs is prescribed by dermatologists in order to ward off pimples. But these treatments work best only for moderate to severe pimples. Cure in these cases come along with side effects as dizziness, rashes, nausea, redness and dryness of skin. Therefore it may be essential for individuals to take all kinds of precautionary measures, when they undertake these type of treatments and methods.

Surgical Methods – The absolute last resort I would recommend is surgical procedures if all other methods mentioned above fail to cure the problem. Thanks to the rapid advancements in technology, we now have a lot of surgical procedures to help us get rid of pimples. Dermabrasion, surgical incision, punch incision and light therapy are some of the most commonly used surgical pimple treatments. It is required of a patient to sit through 3-6 sessions in order to get the desired result. Apart from demanding more money from the patient, surgical procedures also demand a lot of extra care and efforts to sustain the result obtained.

Alternative Procedures – The formation and appearance of pimples can be restricted due to a huge extent when a combination of the treatments mentioned above is used. But it has to be noted that treatment methods belonging to various traditional medicinal practices throughout the country are emerging as the contenders for pimple treatments. People are unwilling to follow these methods because of lack of proper knowledge. These traditional medicinal systems include yoga, hypnosis, acupressure, acupuncture, homoeopathy, mind and cognitive therapy. The one factor that unites all these traditional methods of curing pimples is the concept that ‘identifying the real cause would reveal the best remedy’.  These methods normally give the desired results, but patience is definitely required because they take some time and effort with the healing process and may vary with each individual.

Acne Medications Types of Treatments

Here is the list of the type of acne medications that is available on the market today:

Topical Acne Medications

Visit your local drug store, or even convenience store, and you will find a wide array of creams, gels, lotions, and other topical treatments for acne. These over-the-counter acne medications are usually for mild to moderate types of acne.

The common active ingredients that topical acne medications contain are sulfur, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, resorcinol or lactic acid. If you find that these medications do not work on your acne, it is time for you to visit a doctor, preferable a skin or acne specialist, so that you will be given prescription for a stronger type of topical acne medication.

Adapalene and Tretinoin are some of the active ingredients of the more potent topical creams. These two chemicals are derived from Vitamin A. These types of topical lotions or creams usually work by preventing hair follicles from clogging, which is the main reason for the development of acne, and hastening of cell regeneration.

If your acne is severe, your doctor might prescribe the use of topical antibiotics. These medications are aimed at killing or eliminating skin bacteria. Usually, topical antibiotics are used in conjunction with other acne medications.

Antibiotics

Acne problems that are severe usually need the help of oral antibiotics to help fight off the bacteria that are causing the breakout and ease the inflammation. You should never take oral or topical antibiotics without prescription. Usually, oral antibiotics are taken for weeks or months.

Oral Contraceptives

Women who have acne can take advantage of oral contraceptives to improve their acne condition. Usually contraceptives that contain ethinyl estradiol and neogestimate are the ones that are effective pimple fighters. However, since oral contraceptives might have side effects, you need to consult first with your doctor before taking such medications.

Isotretinoin

For the type of cysts and nodules that antibiotics cannot reach, isotretinoin may be the answer. This is a strong medication that is a last resort treatment for stubborn acne. A lot of people have confirmed the effectiveness of this type of treatment for hard-to-treat acne.

However, it also might have potential side effects. Thus, dermatologists usually closely monitor people who are using this type of acne medication. Some of the adverse effects of isotretinoin are birth defects, triglycerides increase and reproduction problems.

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is actually more useful in removing or reducing the appearance of the scars or craters from acne infections. Usually, the procedure called dermabrasion is used for the removal of scars on the face. This works by peeling off the top layer of the skin by use of chemicals and equipment.

Whatever type of acne medication you use, it is wise to consult a doctor first so that your treatment will be monitored. Furthermore, it is still best to know what is the underlying cause of your acne breakouts so that you can handle the situation right at its roots.

Making Acne Treatments Work For You

You can do it — look better, feel better, and raise your self-esteem 150% by getting rid of your acne for good. There are times when one has to think about alternative, natural, effective treatment methods to get the best cure or solution to their acne, zits, pimples and blackhead problems. As a registered nurse, I’ve learned a lot over the years about acne, acne scars, and acne treatments.

Nearly 80 percent of people from ages 11 to 30 years have acne, most often on the face, chest and back. In a survey conducted in Great Britain, 95% of 16-year-old males and 83% of 16 year-old females had acne. The most common types of pimples are whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. Most pimples are found on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. The most common type of acne is acne vulgaris.

Understanding that hormones may have some influence on the cause of acne needs to be considered. The cause of acne is really unknown. Doctors think certain factors might cause or contribute to acne including hormone increases in teenage years, hormone changes in pregnancy, starting or stopping birth control pills, heredity, medicines and greasy make-up.

The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders.

One treatment method some people have used is applying cornstarch, egg whites or milk of magnesia as a facial mask. Coconut is one of the best treatments I’ve found for acne. One good natural method is to apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin to heal and soothe it. The treatment plan for acne includes trying to heal the pimples, stopping new pimples from forming, preventing scarring and helping reduce embarrassment.

Treatment with raw apple cider vinegar will work better on your skin if it isn’t already noticeably irritated from acne medicines, acne products or other failed treatment. Drinking pure, filtered water may be the best acne treatment working from the inside out. It just takes motivation, a willingness to try it, and diligent application of coconut oil several times a day and at bedtime to see its benefits.

The good news is that there are several types of treatments to choose from for acne scar removal. See your skin doctor, dermatologist or dermatological surgeon for the best acne scar treatment for you. As a registered nurse, I have learned a lot over the years about acne scars, acne scar treatments, and acne scar removal.

The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders. Some alternative doctors recommend eating raw cloves of garlic daily for acne. Essential fatty acids are particularly important to people with inflammatory conditions such as eczema and acne. Besides external acne treatment it’s best to work from the inside out too.

Use flaxseed oil or walnut oil in your salad. Good skin is often a reflection of a good digestive system. Eat foods that contain essential fatty acids.

The skin must be regularly cleaned or it’ll become cracked or inflamed. Functions of the skin are disturbed when it is dirty; it becomes more easily damaged, the release of antibacterial compounds decreases and dirty skin is more prone to develop infections.

And whatever you do stop purchasing hundreds of dollars in skin care acne treatment solutions. Analyze all the acne treatments available and make the best decision for you, based on your circumstances. In any case, try not to panic about your acne and take it day by day.

Pimple is a common skin condition. Pimple lesions can appear as whiteheads, blackheads and small pink bumps called papules. Natural treatments for pimple are highly effective and less likely to cause irritation or other adverse reactions. Finding the best natural pimples treatments ever really depends on who is looking.

One of the most simple, affordable and best natural pimple treatments is to simply adjust your diet. There are many arguments about which foods may cause pimple. Take in a lot of papaya as papaya keeps your body fit and your skin supple and soft. It may be easier to eat right and avoid pimple, than to use the best natural pimple treatments to correct the problem.

Another of the best natural pimple treatments is to gently clean your skin with pure glycerine soap. Some of these soaps include aloe vera or vitamin-e, which is a nice added benefit to your skin. If you let the dirt particles settle then the pimple will emerge sooner than you expect. I know it sounds odd that this is one of the best natural pimple treatments but you have to try it to believe it.

Here are some natural treatments for pimples :

1. Tea tree oil is a popular home remedy for pimple. It is an essential oil that is diluted and applied topically to pimple lesions.

2. Zinc is another popular home remedy for pimple. A couple of research studies have found that zinc is somewhat effective.

3. Garlic juice is an effective way as a natural pimple treatment because garlic is a natural antibacterial agent. It contains sulfur which is nature’s antibiotic.

4. Honey contains potassium, which suffocates bacteria in pimple cells to get rid of pimples faster.

5. Dandelion is very effective in fighting pimple. Use the complete dandelion plant.

Worry, stress and lack of sleep can upset the body and create pimple and skin problems. Try taking a shower before bed to relax yourself. Take care of your skin and your health.
